Johannes ‘Bongo’ Tsimako

Mr. Tsimako is a Botswana-trained geologist who for over five years was the Chief Geologist at the Botswana Department of Geological Survey (“DGS”).

​Prior his time with the DGS, Mr. Tsimako held various senior positions with the Botswana Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources included Department of Energy, Mineral Affairs on Coal development strategies, and Mineral Affairs on Mineral Promotion and Policy formulation.

The responsibilities included  promotion of Botswana’s mineral industry.  ​Evaluation of information on exploration efforts and mineral investments in order to improve the capabilities in the decision making process and on improving the service delivery to customers.

Mr Tsimako also worked for Rio Tinto as an exploration Geologist mainly running the daimond exploration and base metal programmes in various parts of Botswana.

Mr. Tsimako is currently the Country Manager for Khoemcau Copper Mining and runs the Gaborone Office. He is very instrumental in guiding Khoemacau as they progress towards mine development.
