With over 14 years of experience and extensive knowledge in the financial services sector, Sheperd is an astute corporate leader with an elite track record of driving shareholder value and operational efficiency in the financial sector. In recent years he has been an integral part of deal teams in project finance; mining finance; pre and post shipment export finance; corporate finance and managing teams of professionals in banking.
Mr Aisam was appointed Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for Stanbic Bank Botswana in April 2016, having joined the bank as a Relationship Executive in November 2008 where he quickly progressed to Head Corporate Banking in August 2009. In 2013, the role elevated to a more client centric, strategic and senior role as Head of Client Coverage within CIB. In the same year, Sheperd was sent on an assignment in Standard Bank Mauritius for a period of 3 months where he held Head of Client Coverage and TPS to assist in alleviating the business subsequent to a reshuffle in leadership and strategy changes within the business.
Before joining Stanbic, Sheperd had worked in Absa Corporate and Business Bank in Johannesburg as well as Barclays Africa Head office also in Johannesburg in South Africa where he did an array of Regional Roles in the Africa business unit looking after portfolios in corporate credit, country risk, sovereign risk, specialised credit, retail credit and operational risk. He has also spent time living and working on these portfolios sitting in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique to mention a few countries in the sub region. His career started at Barclays Bank of Botswana in 2003 when he joined that institution on the Barclays Africa Leadership Programme which was an accelerated Management development programme.
Sheperd has a Masterclass in Strategic Client Management (MCM) from UCT Graduate School of Business, Master of Science (MSc) Strategic Management from Derbyshire University (Merit) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from University of Botswana.
